Early Professional Background | Luke Radick
Entry Position:
Luke Radick has honed his sales skills over the past two decades. His first experience dates to when he was a teenager. In the summer of 2002, at age fifteen, Luke had a summer job as a telemarketer that contracted for a resort in the Poconos. As his first experience getting on the phone and calling individuals, he was able to gain valuable knowledge of the skills needed for cold calling.
The position required Luke to set appointments for individuals living in the NYC metro area at the resort for a tour. This tour would allow the individuals to see all the amenities the resort offered and allow the sales team at the resort to offer the individuals an opportunity to purchase vacation and timeshare packages.
Luke used his age and his natural ability to converse to his advantage. He would inform everyone he spoke with that this was a summer job, and he was saving up to buy a car. Also, he explained how he asked his grandparents to attend as they lived in Northern New Jersey. They drove ninety minutes to attend the two-hour tour and left without purchasing anything. As a bonus, they received a gift card from a chain restaurant they would be able to use the same day for lunch or dinner.
He
informed these individuals that the only thing they needed to do was
show up for the tour. As no purchase was necessary for Luke to be
successful in his position.
Through his honesty, sincerity and, persistence, Luke was able to consistently exceed quotas and become a top earner.
Account Executive:
In late 2005, at the age of eighteen, Luke headed south. Having always wanted to see more of the country Luke ended up in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Through connections he made in the short time he was there Luke was hired for a position as an Account Executive at Lighthouse List Company in Pompano Beach. The cold calling skills he learned were to come in handy as the position required a great deal of outbound calls. This position opened Luke up to the world of Business-to-Business sales. To the astonishment of his coworkers and management Luke closed two new business deals within his first week. This was only the beginning for his new career.
Throughout
his time at Lighthouse List Luke was able to gain the confidence and
respect of the clients he dealt with and to this day he maintains
contact with several individuals he met while employed there. Due to
this, Luke was consistently the highest earning Account Executive for
the majority of his time at Lighthouse List Company.
The daily routine of contacting perspective new clients, engaging with warm leads, negotiation with existing clients, and doing follow up with clients after their marketing campaigns had finished was something Luke enjoyed immensely.
All good things come to an end. The end of Luke's time in Florida began with a scheduled vacation in the summer of 2007.
